Hi, I’m Andrew
I am a professional clarinettist living in Newcastle, this is just a little bit about me.
In 2014-2020, I studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, completing a BMus with Hons and then studying a MMus in Performance and gained a distinction. Whilst studying there I started my private tuition, also played with the BBC Philharmonic, Manchester Concert Orchestra and the Manchester Camerata.
I then went on to study in Valencia, Spain, studying with renowned clarinettist, Vicent Alberola.
I was then fortunate to gain a place with the Chamber Orchestra of Music Academy, and so I travelled to Bordeaux with the orchestra and learned all about their playing and had tuition from Richard Hosford (principal clarinet of the BBC Symphony Orchestra).
I am now living near Whitley Bay enjoying my freelance career, playing in concerts with the Royal Northern Sinfonia and other freelance orchestras around the UK. I am also a founder, alongside other musicians such as conductor Mark Edwards, of Kainos Ensemble – bringing contemporary music to the north east. I also perform concertos, recitals and orchestra works frequently around the north east.
I teach full time, in schools and privately, and I am really enthusiastic for many people to learn the clarinet. Please enquire if you have any questions!
